Gluten Free Halloween Snack Ideas

Halloween and parties are here and doing it gluten free takes a little preparation and forethought. Figuring out what candy is Celiac safe or Gluten Sensitive takes a lot of label reading.

*Make sure to read labels and look for hidden wheat terms like barley, malt or crisp. If a candy does not have a label, the best bet is to not eat it. The worst thing is to assume something is gluten-free and then you or your child up sick.

*Make sure that if you have a celiac child, to go over candy options with them so when at school or at a mates party, they understand what their choices are and how to make safe candy choices.

This is a great list of Halloween candy brought to you by the Celiac Disease Foundation.

                                        Scary Teeth Apple Bites

These Apple Bites from All Recipes are not as difficult as they may look and easy using only 3 ingredients: apples, thin almond slices and lemon juice. These will definitely make quite a splash with kids and adults alike.

Apples are a great natural energy source due to the fiber helping to digest the fruit sugars slower.  The body uses it as time released energy which is key to regulating blood sugar.

Also, the phytonutrients in apples help to make you feel fuller longer; they are high in free radical fighting antioxidants and help to keep your cardiovascular system healthy by lowering overall cholesterol and significantly reducing the bad LDL cholesterol in the body.

Almonds and their healthy fat help to fight bad LDL cholesterol as well and the vitamin E present keeps the heart healthy. Almonds are also high in magnesium and potassium, which improves blood flow, lowers blood pressure and works with the vitamin E for more protected heart health.

Ghouly Cheese-Finger Food
