DON’T GET GLUTENED this THANKSGIVING… here’s some GF TIPS

photo

Last year I spent my Thanksgiving with friends who took special care in creating a safe gluten free dinner for me, even though I was the only one that was gluten-free. The kitchen was sealed off and only 3 of us were allowed in. My food was kept on one side and everything else on the other. The dinner turned out perfect and our grumbling stomachs were ready to eat.

During the meal I noticed right away my stomach was starting to bloat, my body’s early warning sign of danger ahead.  But in my mind, I couldn’t fathom what could possibly have gone wrong. Everyone had been so careful, could I really be having a gluten attack now?

Turns out, yes I was. That dang ole gluten managed its way into my food. Oh no, what to do now?! Everyone was laughing, having a good time and I did not want to be the downer of the party, so I made it look like I was eating by moving my food around artfully on my plate.

After dinner, during clean-up, I slowly made my way to the couch and fell asleep for the next 3 hours. The gluten culprit turned out to be, the stuffing inside that was mistakenly switched with the gluten-free.  Lesson learned, so this year I am not going to let that happen again, I’ve decided to cook.
